What EPR covers

The categories Amazon asks about

Most sellers don’t think of themselves as producers, yet under EPR rules they are. It usually comes down to four product categories.

Electronics

From kitchen appliances to laptops and phone accessories.

Batteries

Both standalone batteries and those built into devices.

Packaging

Boxes, film and void fill: everything you ship your goods in.

Textiles

Clothing, footwear and other textiles, e.g. in France, where EPR covers more and more products.

How registration works

Four steps to EPR compliance

Every country approaches EPR differently, so managing compliance by hand can be complicated and time-consuming. The general process looks like this:

Step 1Categories

We identify which EPR categories apply to your products: packaging, electronics, batteries.

Step 2Registration

We register you with a producer responsibility organisation (PRO) in every country you sell to.

Step 3EPR numbers

You receive registration numbers confirming compliance for each product category.

Step 4Reporting

We report quantities placed on the market: monthly, quarterly or yearly, depending on the country.

FAQ

EPR questions for e-commerce

I don’t manufacture anything, I just sell. Does EPR apply to me?

Usually, yes. Under EPR rules the producer is the company that first places a product or packaging on a country’s market. If you ship goods to consumers abroad, that is usually you.

What happens if I don’t provide an EPR number on Amazon?

Amazon warns that listings without a valid EPR number may be blocked in that country. Other marketplaces are introducing similar requirements.

How often do I have to report?

It depends on the country and category: monthly, quarterly or yearly. We track the deadlines and file the reports for you.

How much does it cost?

The price depends on the number of countries and product categories. We prepare a quote after a free consultation.
